Selecting Your Shoes

Before you can go shoe shopping, you should have some idea of what size shoes you are looking for. I found a really great shoe size conversion chart at the online site Zappos. You can also just input “male to female shoe conversion chart” and see if any of them look simple enough. I know with the clothing measurements you needed a measuring tape, and if you are very careful it will work to help measure you for shoes if you use the Zappos chart. Other charts may just tell you what size women’s shoes you would wear based on your male shoe size. Also, never overlook the mall shoe store where they may be happy to use that fancy Brannock Device to measure length and width! If you’re too shy to be bold, go in the back of the men’s section and browse until you are approached by a clerk, and then quietly explain to them what you need. (Hey! You can tell them it’s for a Halloween costume party!)

How Many Shoes Are Too Many?

I’m not the one to tell you how many shoes to have. I own shoes that go with one specific outfit that is only worn once a year. That’s just who I am. I also believe in good quality shoes. Less expensive shoes can be fun, too, though, and can give you a chance to wear a certain style for a while before you commit the big bucks to your favorite styles of shoes. That said, here are some basic shoes you may look into:
